Benefits of Music Education

I came across a pearl of wisdom browsing through the web ..
Music expresses that which cannot be said
and on which it is impossible to be silent.
~Victor Hugo (1802 - 1885) ~

Parents,
Take time to read this article, the importance and the benefits of your child being exposed to music. Music education is essential as an extracuriccular in a child's life and even from the mother's womb the child begins to learn of sounds of different kinds. The priviledge is mine to express how much I agree with it and how it has benefited me eventhough I learn music later as an adult but a lover of music since young.
You may not think your child is cut out for music instruments lesson for some but the exposure will contribute to the growth of the child immensely.

Very interesting article. I agree with this 100 %. My son went to a school where they didn't have music training for his first and second grade, and it was impossible to get him interested in the school work. He wasn't a difficult child, and it was more due to lack of stimulation than anything else. He already knew how to read when he started school, as well as the basic of mathematics. He didn't like school at all, and I knew that this would eventually mean that he would fall behind, instead of being ahead in his learning. The turnaround came when I found a school where studying music is essential. They teach the children singing, but also to play instruments, different rhythms, and they give several concerts a year. From fitht grade they also teach music history. My son now looks forward to school every day, and he is doing good in all his subjects, not just the ones related to music.

Thanks for the testimony. I'm going be teaching preschool music & movement and I too hope the children's mind and emotion will be well stimulated to help them absorb their studies.

Which part of the world are you from, Sleepless?

I wish Malaysia will be more open to music education in schools.
