Do I care - not really! by Robin B

Just felt it was interesting as I read from one of the senior blogger below on his views on approval from others. It may be true younger people nowadays do know how to speak up(whether at the right time, thats another story) but there are some who are exceptionally afraid of what others might think of them thus tries to please everyone. Some just want be 'in' so they speak the lingo for it.
We humans are such complicated beings. Don't you think? :)
Oh well.. read on!

Do I care - not really!

When I was younger I used to care what people thought of me. Like most everyone else, I wanted to be liked and accepted. I’ll be turning 62 in another week and one of the things I’ve come to notice as I get older is that I really don’t give a damn anymore what others think of me.
Think for a moment of the people you know. I’ll bet it’s safe to say that the people you know that are seniors are probably more honest and straightforward than your younger friends. And that’s because they have nothing to prove. As a “senior” myself, I have experienced many things in my life and have formed many opinions and I’m not afraid to voice those opinions even if they might offend. Younger people seem to be always concerned that if expressing what’s on their mind it “may be taken the wrong way” or it “may create a wrong impression.” Face it – you can’t please everyone so why worry what impression you’re going to create?
One of the advantages of being older is that you’re allowed (expected) to be “in a mood” a lot of the time. That’s why we have the expression “Grumpy old man!” That’s not to say that I’m necessarily grumpy. In fact, most of the time I’m not. But I admit that I do enjoy stirring the pot a little by intentionally saying things that I know will get a reaction from someone. I may even start doing that here once in awhile so please don’t think I’m just a grumpy old man – it’s just one of life’s little pleasures!that’s the way I see it!

Dodgeball

What is Dodgeball?

Dodgeball is a sport made popularized in 2004 by the movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story starred Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, and Rip Torn.

The history of dodgeball is bizarre as read in Uncyclopedia
The basics of dodgeball is that there will be two teams(6 is most common on each side) playing against each other. The objective is to eliminate members of the opposite team until none are left. A member is eliminated when the opponent's throw touches them. But if that member catches the ball, in return the opponent who threw will be eliminated.

If I have the opportunity, I would love to play it. Throwing balls at people, sure is FUN!

Sweat! Sweat! Sweat!

There is an enormous heat wave here in Malaysia. The haze has not subside and it really has gotten into people's nerves. Each day I search for cooling clothing for work as to cushion my vexation to sweat. Moreover, many are sick and down with flu and coughs so time to boost our vitamins and eat smart! I'm glad the Bio-Spray is doing me well. I have not taken MC since last year. Nothing that i could not handle.

The condition we are facing today is called El-Nino. This is the definition taken from http://kids.earth.nasa.gov
"El Nino, an abnormal warming of surface ocean waters in the eastern tropical Pacific, is one part of what's called the Southern Oscillation. The Southern Oscillation is the see-saw pattern of reversing surface air pressure between the eastern and western tropical Pacific; when the surface pressure is high in the eastern tropical Pacific it is low in the western tropical Pacific, and vice-versa. Because the ocean warming and pressure reversals are, for the most part, simultaneous, scientists call this phenomenon the El Nino/Southern Oscillation or ENSO for short."

Normal Conditions (Non El Nino)
El Nino Conditions

The dry spell and hotter days are expected to follow us till September. STOP OPEN BURNING - it contributes to the haze and poor children will not get to go outdoors to play.

Alright, less complains and more gratefulness. Have a nice day!

Presenting Sungha Jung- Young Guitarist

Superb! Awesome! I'm at loss of adjectives for this boy. Incredible talent you can see from this boy. The name is Sungha Jung. He is 13 years old this year and started playing 4 years ago and that would be 9 years old. What did we do when we were 9?

I would take many months and hard work to play a piece like this. Sticking to strumming will just do for me. For a young lad, he learns new pieces in two or three days. The world has change, it is of no surprise that the trendsetters are the little ones, so do not look down at their creativity. Sungha Jung is very gifted and will do wonders with music in the near future.Enjoy his interpretation of Billie Jean.

Lowside Blues by Joanna McGregor

Grade 7 - it is an accomplishment! Then comes the Number 8. Complete and a new beginning.

Exams give us the butterflies in the stomach and the queasy motion drives us mad. The jitters does not stop until we walk out of the 'pressure cooker'. Then at last, a huge relief like a sack of potatoes off your back.

This is one of the piece of grade 7 piano. Love the bluesy feel but the aim is to not feel the blues after the exams.

Favourite piece of all! Someone posted the song fr the original CD. All I did was to paste the code. mmmm...

Don't Forget to Remember!

As i rummage over past collectibles and came across an autograph book written by friends years ago.One of the poems I found interesting to share.....

"Forget each kindness that you do,
As soon as you have done it,
Forget the praise that falls to you,
The moment you have won it,
Forget the slander that you hear,
Before you can repeat it,
Forget each slight, each spite, each sneer,
Whenever you may meet it.

Remember every kindness done,
To you, whatever the measure,
Remember praise by others won,
And pass it on with pleasure,
Remember every promise made,
And keep it to the letter,
Remember those who lend you aid,
And be a grateful debtor"

"Don't forget to Remember"

....jobless can't be Choosers?

Yesterday I read in The Star, that there are more vacancies than layoffs in Penang. Quoting Mark Chang from Jobstreet.com "Many employers have complained that job applicants are choosy although there are still many job opportunities being offered"

The economic downturn has left many people without jobs in a lot of countries and it is unwise to be 'picky' if you are jobless and you need to feed your family. However, there should be a timeframe for personal preference, it's not easy working in a position that you dislike. This is a time to make wise decisions not based on feelings but situation. I received a positive email forward about recession. Have a read! Look for a brighter tomorrow.

What is recession?

This story is about a man who once upon a time was selling hotdogs by the
roadside. He was illiterate, so he never read newspapers. He was hard of
hearing, so he never listened to the radio. His eyes were weak, so he never
watched television. But enthusiastically, he sold lots of hotdogs. He was
smart enough to offer some attractive schemes to increase his sales. His
sales and profit went up. He ordered more a more raw material and buns and
use to sell more. He recruited few more supporting staff to serve more
customers. He started offering home deliveries. Eventually he got himself a
bigger and better stove.

As his business was growing, the son, who had recently graduated from
College, joined his father. Then something strange happened. The son asked,
"Dad, aren't you aware of the great recession that is coming our way?" The
father replied, "No, but tell me about" The son said, "The international
situation is terrible. The domestic situation is even worse. We should be
prepared for the coming bad times."The man thought that since his son had
been to college, read the papers, listened to the radio and watched TV. He
ought to know and his advice should not be taken lightly.

So the next day onwards, the father cut down his raw material order and
buns, took down the colorful signboard, removed all the special schemes he
was offering to the customers and was no longer as enthusiastic. He reduced
his staff strength by giving layoffs. Very soon, fewer and fewer people
bothered to stop at his hotdog stand. And his sales started coming down
rapidly, same is the profit. The father said to his son, "Son, you were
right". "We are in the middle of a recession and crisis. I am glad you
warned me ahead of time."

Moral of The Story:

It's all in your MIND! And we actually FUEL this recession much more than
we think we do!!!!!!!!!! !! What can we take away from this story??
1. How many times we confuse intelligence with good judgment?
2. Choose your advisers carefully but use your own judgment
3. A person or an organization will survive forever, if they have the 5 Cs

Character
Commitment
Conviction
Courtesy
Courage

The tragedy today is that there are many walking encyclopedias that are
living failures. The More practical and appropriate views on this economic
recession is: "This is the time to reunite together for any small or a big
organization, this is the time to motivate and retain people which are the
biggest asset, this is the time to show more commitments to the customers,
this is the time to show values of our company to the world ".

Happy World Milk Day

My new discovery of the World Milk Day leaves me in a appalling state when i ran through the papers. Monday (1 June 09) was D-Day and it was all over the Sunday The Star paper on M-I-L-K. I must be out-dated with the world's affair as World Milk Day started in 2001 but I'm not sure when Malaysia participated in this. Any ideas?
I'm a milk lover myself and one of my current favourite milk product is Devondale-product from Australia. Want to know more? - hop on to DEVONDALE

Here in Penang, Malaysia, you can get it at Cold Storage, Gurney Plaza priced at RM6.90. Quality taste comes with a price but nevertheless it is worth its value.Other milk products like Dutch Lady Milk is not of far comparison.
