Be Beauty 's Grand Opening

One fine sunny Saturday, I went to an opening of Be Beauty on an invitation. With some friends we had an educational as well as a time of pamper during the opening. One of the owners Joanne Khaw whom we have acquainted and cross-paths for a number of years, met up with us again on this special occasion. Here we have Joanne dressed in black with her partner in purple Ms.Hee. It's great to see the support of their family members as family stands by one another and with that good business is grounded with family values. That is her daughter on the second picture and  her son at the third picture. We were not able to meet the man behind the wife as we left before he arrived.

Families

After the manicure there was an array of 'foodies' at the table waiting for us and all was so pleasantly tasty. There were sushis, creampuffs, assortment of cakes and later there was even strawberries and other fruits.

We continue our touring with Joanne who showed us the various rooms (single, double) for massage / facial purposes.

We were also given the opportunity to clean our face with Sothys facial products with our very own bare hands. It was conducted by one of the employee from Sothys in KL. In every step of the way, we were directed on how to wash our face, scrub, tone, moisturise our face. It was a fun filled day!

Christmas Tree Light Up

Vistana Hotel, Penang organized a Christmas Light Up event making a difference in the lives of children from Shan Children's Home. And I am glad to be invited to join in the celebration for the night. We were served where the server carries the food on a serving plate and allows the guests to choose what they like. We ate to our heart's content with camera on the other hand.

Then we were given Christmas carols song sheets folded and with a cute sticker each. I went to take a picture of the tree before the light up. Sun was setting and it was time for carols. We were serenaded by the singers from Fettes Park Baptist Church. Their sweet harmonious voices soon echoed by the people's singing along, bringing the Christmas cheer to all.

Soon the countdown begin, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....ta..da! Christmas tree comes alive!
'Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow' rang through the speakers and Penang was 'snowing' at Vistana Hotel. Children shouted with glee and jumping for joy to catch the 'snow'.Thanks to all the staff of Vistana Hotel for throwing this event and here they are below!

'Not A Lie' by Chelsia Ng

Recently I have posted Chelsia Ng's interview on YES and now I'm glad to present you her first single 'Not A Lie'. The video clip has a sweet sense of humor, as if you are watching a lady in love's mind on TV.

True love may seem like a fairytale but it has been found by many and more to come. Love needs to be pursued and taken care of. A garden with flowers without tender loving care will soon wither and die. Never stop loving!Love is the greatest gift from God.

Hope you enjoy our local artiste hailed from Penang Island, an upcoming star Chelsia Ng's rendition of 'Not A Lie'

Great video Chels! Kudos!

Betty Boop

So blessed I was given a Betty Boop lipstick gloss nice sweet colours. All thanks to JL who bought herself two beautiful handbags and gave her gift to me. How sweet! The salesladies and the manager are all very helpful and kind with words. Lots of bags to choose ranging from luggage, handphone pouches, purse, and handbags. Not to mention there are some apparels too. If you like to visit Betty Boop, we have one here at 1st Level, 1st Avenue Mall,Penang.
I remembered vaguely of Betty Boop cartoons during my childhood days and now its merchandises popularity are the ones who gave me a flashback. Betty Boop is regarded as one of the first and famous sex symbols on animated screen. This is according to Wikipedia- Betty Boop and imagine her first appearance was in 1932. Were my parents born yet? (thinking...)I would not be surprised if she appeared in a war cartoon episode with the soldiers at the lounge singing, as you know, World Wars at hand!

Anyway, here is my gift!

Ta da!

Science Used Wrongly: Fake Eggs !!!

It is as if I'm watching another episode of Fringe, Malaysian Fringe. Now who is coming to solve this mystery on the fake eggs. Send investigators to China, please! I love eggs and I really do not like to have a bad experience with them.
According to the fake egg issue in China, the egg shell is made out from Calcium Chloride, egg yolk and egg white are made with Sodium Alginate and Gelatine. Penang Consumer Association warned: consuming the fake eggs may cause brain and neuron cell damage. Please watch out whereever you are because we do not know when such case will invade which country next.
GEORGE TOWN, 7 MARCH, 2011: Penang Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry officers seized a total of 270 eggs from three stalls in Pulau Tikus market today, following complaints of fake eggs being sold there, reported The Star.

A team from the Health Ministry also came and conducted its own inspection of the eggs sold at the market.

The report said the seven-member Domestic Trade team arrived at about 10am and left around 11:15am, after taking three trays comprising 90 eggs from each of the three stalls inside the market.

A Penang enforcement division spokesman said the eggs would be tested by the department or sent for analysis by a laboratory.

Four state health officials also arrived shortly later and were seen doing their own checks of the eggs sold by the traders.

They bought 46 eggs for RM16 from one stall and 62 eggs for RM22.60 from another which would be sent to a laboratory in Petaling Jaya today for tests.

Several Domestic Trade enforcement officials had earlier visited the Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) office at Jalan Mesjid Negeri to gather more information about the fake eggs before raiding the market stalls.

The seizures came in the wake of news reports Thursday that fake eggs, which were allegedly full of chemicals, had been found in Penang.

CAP president SM Mohamed Idris had said a housewife complained that she bought a tray of 30 eggs for RM11 at the market but found they did not smell like real eggs and were tasteless.

He claimed the eggs had unusual shapes, were larger and had a rougher surface than the genuine ones. ** taken from Malaysian Digest News

YUM YUM at Hai Wei Seafood

Last night a group of us went for a scrumptious dinner at Hai Wei Seafood Restaurant situated within Leisure Cove, Tanjung Bungah (Behind Tg Bunga Police Station/Tejani Clinic). It was around RM18 per person for the meal we had. That's not too bad. I enjoyed all the dishes served except for the tofu dish, didnt quite meet my taste. We were served with complimentary plate of watermelon which i didnt snap a photo of it. Well, you all know how slices of watermelon looks like...need I show?:)

Turns out, this place belongs to my senior's ( in secondary school) mom Sally Loi.
I'm surprised many Penang / Malaysia food bloggers have not reviewed this place. I'm waiting for more delicious pictures to be posted by foodie bloggers. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for people who likes chinese cuisine.

Just 60%

JUST PIZZA

As simple as the name sounds, the taste is also simple but good for the money. I felt the bread part abit thick and the ingredients tasted not too bad, i picked pepperoni beef and cheese and they gave a generous portion of cheese, you can taste it and drip it. This food outlet is located in Gurney Plaza, Penang right on lower ground floor near food court. I have two more food reviews I wanted to put up but this truly is the simplest of the lot with the pictures taken from my faithful old cellphone. So hang on for my other food visits.

This great promotion is from Monday-Friday, you save up to 60%.It's really worth it and two can even share. Look at the picture with the standing advertisement - i took the first one with the 7" pizza, and picked cheese cake and paid for RM0.50 for a glass of water. I'm not into gassy drinks so H20 is the best for me. The advert don't say when this promotion will end or it's forever but its not bad to have a taste of what they have before you go for other ala cartes.

Solo Adventure of The Night

On the way back from Bayan Lepas in Penang last night (18Sept), there were flash floods at certain areas in Penang due to the non-stop heavy rain. I was nearly stuck in one when a van that was two cars infront of me was immobilised by the flood. Poor thing! I thought to myself that I am not going to be in that same position but the water seems to be rising, slowly but rising. My adrenaline starts pumping, stucked my head out of the window, looked around and the longer I remained there thinking, the water level looks scarier. So I mustered my courage and got out from that predicament. Drove through the higher water level part of the road, ramming on my accelerator until i reached to drier grounds. Phew! And the rest of story is jam, bottleneck, obstructions, let me not bore you further. I drove into Shell petrol station to have a fill-up seeing that my oil indicator was sure to appear soon. I avoided another flood area, got abit lost but no worries. With all the roads traffic lights down and everyone wants to get home, the night became longer. Thank God after my final bottleneck at a traffic intersection that was filled with angry eyes and hands, I managed to have a smoother ride home. Hooray, hurrah my heart rate was back to normal.

Hai Nam Town, Penang

Recently I went to Hai Nam Town to have dinner with my family. I think this was my 2nd time being there. The food is tasty but wee bit expensive than the normal nyonya food. My favourites out of the dishes you see above are the Assam Prawns, Inche Kabin(fried chicken served with Worcester sauce)and the SpringRolls. I forgot to take a picture of the Joo Hoo Char and that was nice too. The fish(ikan tumis) and the beansprout (Taugeh) dish was moderate to my liking but I know others liked it. For your information, the fish and the assam prawns cost around RM 55. So if one of these days is going to be your first time there, I would recommend the dishes above. The desserts are not to be missed too.
The last time I was there, there were no charges for parking but now they charge RM3.00 per entry which I personally find there is no need for this place.
The Hai Nan Town Restaurant(Hainanese and Nyonya cuisine) is located by the Jetty at Weld Quay,Penang,Malaysia. They have another outlet near Bukit Jambul next to some Nasi Kandar Restaurant. This has much nicer view and you can take short walks nearby the jetty. Beautiful sceneries-something like this one.Just using my phone camera.

Come back, Green Trees

I took this while on the road at the highway in Penang. So sad to see trees being chopped down. I know they are widening the road but talking about going 'green', this definitely does not complement it. One of our source of oxygen has been excavated from the ground and it's so disheartening to see them gone. Well I hope to see some tree planting soon.I LOVE TREES, I LOVE GREENS!
