Serendipity

"Music soothes my soul, like words clears my mind,
And when I sing,  it tunes my woes away,
When I play, it resonates with my inner peace,
When I dance, it stirs the rhythm of my heart
to serendipity. " ~ Grace Ann

My Early Birthday Gift

We all receive physical birthday gifts coming from people we know. One of the perks of being a blogger is that you might receive a gift out of a little effort.

Last year I received one year of free domain from Green Hosting and an experience to handle Word Press which I concluded Blogger was more suitable for my kind of life.

This year I was asked to participate in advertising for TOPSHOP', in the reopening at Queensbay Mall, Penang. I advertised on Facebook and Walah! I received a RM 100 shopping voucher and got myself a black dress.
Thanks to TOPSHOP and my friend Jamie from Jamie Writes in one way or another for having an additional gift for my birthday to come :)

Queenstown, South New Zealand

Experiencing Queenstown was one of my best travel ever in my whole entire life. As I came for beautiful scenic views and an atmosphere of living in a country far away, I got what I came for. I usually like to travel free and easy as I get a chance to have a little glimpse of living like the locals do.

Travelling as a backpacker, roughing it out with the group is great as it is not as bad as camping outdoors.  So here it is where we stayed, right in the town of Queenstown. Wonderful view as we walked around the town where you can see bright skies, sparkling sand at the beach, mountains that seem so near you feel you could swim to it.
Morning, Lake Wakatipu!
Sun Down
After taking the gondola (cable car line) up to Skyline, this is one of the view you can see, I zoomed it up though. We took a ride of the luge and as you can see in the second picture . We have to ride up the line with our luge up to another higher area so that we can ride our luge down a track. I didn't buy any pictures that was selling then, so these are some of the pictures I did get to take.

Milford Sounds was the next destination we took. A bus cruise with multiple stops before reaching Milford was abit of a rough ride. I suppose it depends who the driver is. Nevertheless, I was comforted with crisp, light cool air, fanstatic sceneries, and also fresh spring water we took from the river with our water bottles. Tasted much better than the mineral water we had.

Mirror Lake
When we reached Milford Sounds, we got on to the boat cruise, certain parts reminds me of Guilin, China with its mountain views.  Ahh..the waterfall was magnificient.

Read more at Wikipedia about Milford Sounds
I am not a bungee jump fan just simply because the thought of my heart stop mid way isn't so memorable so I went to another exhilarating adventure with Shotover Jet. They spin the speedboat around 360degrees, if not cruising in high speed. All of us cheering, water splashing in, now that I enjoyed. The view was great too, just too bad we were not allowed to carry our cameras along. I found videos on Shotover Jet, so have a preview below.

My pictures are all jumbled up so this is it for the moment. Wait up for more.....soon. : )

Our Life's Gain

Life is beautiful but its fragility is real,
Only God knows our beginnings and ends,
And every breath is stamped with His love seal,
How long do we have, it depends..

Have no fear, cos heaven is near,
No more tears, no more pain,
Live on with cheer,
Filled with sweet memories, our life's gain.
 ~grace khoo~

Death of a person can be so surreal to the one closest to the deceased.  And when reality dawns on them,  tears can't stop rolling,  the longing for the person literally hurts. When I came to know that a good friend of mine whose husband passed, I can't but help think what she must have gone through during those few critical days and what she will be going through after that. Through all these passing ponders, words just came...as above.
REST IN PEACE, BEN. YOU ARE IN A BETTER PLACE.

And I pray for God's love to embrace Su , to strengthen her as she continues her journey of life. That His love and grace will carry her through depressing moments yet her spirit will be lifted up. I pray for God's peace that surpasses all understanding to touch her in a real and tangible way. Our life's gain are sweet memories that we create and enjoy in all our years on earth. Thank You Lord for always being there!

Thoughts of Today

We come across many positive encouragements exhortation from inspirational books, emails, even in Facebook postings. How much does it impact our lives or shape our thoughts?I always believe The Bible as the main source of shaping my thoughts and actions. Today these quotes reminds me of how i should view others apart from myself.

The one thing that keep us from pride or self-centredness is thankfulness.

Logos Hope

Goodbye Doulos, hello Logos Hope ! The sister ship of Doulos came for the first time (as far as I know) to Penang around end of August and is leaving in a few days to Port Klang. I visited twice while they were here in Penang. I love books though not as passionate as before,I bought 6 books in two visits. Just love the smell of the pages of the books, causing me to linger longer at the library. The books are reasonable priced and a fair variety of all kinds of books. I am so fortunate to have found some music books, which universities would use for only RM 40. Three books for RM40, which would have cost me a few hundred if I were to buy in other bookshops. So blessed!

I would recommend you to go for the tour of ship to get to know the ship better and to see the different areas of the ship and the mission of this ministry. It is only RM10 per person for a group of  at least 9 people.

Visit the website to know more about them and its schedules.

Restless Banters

My legs have not been restless for 5 nights in a row like Herb, but my present state of mind is everywhere tonight. One of my task for the day is choreographing. Choreographing for a kids concert dance is suppose to be easy as 1, 2, 3 however in my case, what is not up to my expectation, i seek it out till I get what I want. That's the problem.

Restlessness in mind caused me doing other unimportant things like sleep and playing guitar when I should finish tomorrow's lesson. Finally, I did get it done after being distracted by blogging this. If you think, how can this be possible, doing two things at once when one requires to be on the feet while the other requires fingers on the keyboard and probably a sitting position too. Well, I absolutely could not get myself on my feet therefore it was all planned in my mind and I multitask it with blogging. Clueless?

It does not matter. Being distracted by blogging is pretty inspirational to the creative mind. I have not lost my mind, not to worry. Just a restless mind syndrome propelling me to banter on a topic that probably do not interest you. Oh yes, this is Herb!

YUM YUM at Hai Wei Seafood

Last night a group of us went for a scrumptious dinner at Hai Wei Seafood Restaurant situated within Leisure Cove, Tanjung Bungah (Behind Tg Bunga Police Station/Tejani Clinic). It was around RM18 per person for the meal we had. That's not too bad. I enjoyed all the dishes served except for the tofu dish, didnt quite meet my taste. We were served with complimentary plate of watermelon which i didnt snap a photo of it. Well, you all know how slices of watermelon looks like...need I show?:)

Turns out, this place belongs to my senior's ( in secondary school) mom Sally Loi.
I'm surprised many Penang / Malaysia food bloggers have not reviewed this place. I'm waiting for more delicious pictures to be posted by foodie bloggers. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for people who likes chinese cuisine.

Blanks

Shooting blanks is like working without hitting targets.
Pow Pow Pow is all you hear but hits nothing
Its noise irritates the ear, causes heart palpitation,
Makes a person fuzzy and disorientated for the moment,
Blanks has no purpose but just to fake what could have been real,
And scare you out of your mind;
Stop shooting blanks in your life, its a waste of time, unfulfilling and resulting in
dusts that soon to be blown to nothingness.

I Wonder

Sometimes I wonder if I were to be born in this generation, would I have been a little more smarter than I was when my parents brought me to this world. So many has concluded that the children nowadays are smarter in analyzing, response faster, learns faster and the list goes on. Is it the food they eat? Is it the environment? Is it because of the parents education?

I told myself, "Wonder no more!Carpe diem!Just live & learn all you can."

Merry Christmas!! (David Archuleta sings with mom)

I was playing my guitar when Christmas tunes keep ringing in my ear so I searched for the song 'Have yourself a merry little Christmas' in Youtube and came across David Archuleta's rendition with his mom. A sweet duet and one of my favourite Christmas song. So an early Christmas wish to all of you out there. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Enjoy the song.

Remember The Time

The sand in the hourglass appears to move faster than usual, time is of the essence. It seems just yesterday I flipped over the November calendar and now its December, soon its year 2010! WoW! There's so much to do but do we get to do it all? Being organized is so crucial in order to savour the time to spend for pleasure.
What is your New Year's resolution 2010?

This post title has nothing to do with MJ's song though I liked it and have performed with that song but remembering the time is about embracing the histories made by us and propelling us from the experience of the past to the achievements of our present and future. I suppose I am dwelling a bit too deep here. That is the problem with thinkers like me, think, think, think.
Ok enough thinking, going to bed now to dream, at least my brain gets to rest. I think?! *chuckled* :)

Blog Featured

I received an email saying my blog has been featured in this website I was rather surprised that my entry on dog related issues were stumbled upon and gained me that spot to be featured. "Cool!" I exclaimed because it brought more traffics to my blog. My first time being featured anywhere anyway, so not bad at all.

I love dogs so I gotta introduce you Dog Health Problems that will educate many dog keepers how to care for your dog like its your own child. It is not always an easy task to understand an animal's pain when they are sick. When they whimper in discomfort, grit their teeth in pain "How do we tell what is wrong?", "What signs do we look for?", "What medication can we give?", click here for more information
Read the blog post I did in April 2009 titled "Dog Lovers" , to share my love for dogs.

Solo Adventure of The Night

On the way back from Bayan Lepas in Penang last night (18Sept), there were flash floods at certain areas in Penang due to the non-stop heavy rain. I was nearly stuck in one when a van that was two cars infront of me was immobilised by the flood. Poor thing! I thought to myself that I am not going to be in that same position but the water seems to be rising, slowly but rising. My adrenaline starts pumping, stucked my head out of the window, looked around and the longer I remained there thinking, the water level looks scarier. So I mustered my courage and got out from that predicament. Drove through the higher water level part of the road, ramming on my accelerator until i reached to drier grounds. Phew! And the rest of story is jam, bottleneck, obstructions, let me not bore you further. I drove into Shell petrol station to have a fill-up seeing that my oil indicator was sure to appear soon. I avoided another flood area, got abit lost but no worries. With all the roads traffic lights down and everyone wants to get home, the night became longer. Thank God after my final bottleneck at a traffic intersection that was filled with angry eyes and hands, I managed to have a smoother ride home. Hooray, hurrah my heart rate was back to normal.

Don't Forget to Remember!

As i rummage over past collectibles and came across an autograph book written by friends years ago.One of the poems I found interesting to share.....

"Forget each kindness that you do,
As soon as you have done it,
Forget the praise that falls to you,
The moment you have won it,
Forget the slander that you hear,
Before you can repeat it,
Forget each slight, each spite, each sneer,
Whenever you may meet it.

Remember every kindness done,
To you, whatever the measure,
Remember praise by others won,
And pass it on with pleasure,
Remember every promise made,
And keep it to the letter,
Remember those who lend you aid,
And be a grateful debtor"

Dr. Fish at Spa

Have you tried giving Dr. Fish a nibble off your delicious feet?
Can you imagine having little creatures nibbling at your all-day smelly feet? Swarming around your feet and eating on your dead cells like they are the most scrumptious food on earth? Well,my tickling first time was at Happy Feet Fish Spa located at New World Park, Penang.

The price of OPENING promotion then was RM 18 for half hour, normal price is at RM 28. The owner whom she referred herself as Yeoh gave us a brief description of what the fish does underneath the water. All they do is eat your dead cells around your feet and after this spa treatment, it will leave your feet smooth and clean. They are called Garra Rufa fish, sounds exotic doesn’t it? It was a fairly new shop then and the fishes are still small. The owner said a visit in the near future and i probably will have the opportunity of choosing which size of the feet-eater i want.
I must say it’s relaxing after you get through the giggling stage, and i find it therapeutic and soothing to the soul. There are two reasons the fishes may not swarm on you unlike what you see in the picture. That’s my feet by the way. Perhaps your feet do not have much dead cells because you scrubbed them often or have regular visits to the pedicurist. The other possibility is you may have tinge of lotion left on your feet and they are repelled by it.

In the picture shown above, you will see the big schools of fish all around my feet, well this goes to show that I have a lot cleaning to do. I was having dead cells attack but by the end of the half hour, all my stubborn dead cells have been literally nibbled away. Lo and behold, my soles are as clean as soap, smooth as baby’s bottom (LOL). My friend who was sitting beside me pinched me so hard to prevent her ticklishness from ‘killing’ her. Ouch! It really hurt. Nevertheless I had loads of fun.
It’s a MUST TRY for everyone if you still haven't tried it. NOW I see those shops everywhere - along gurney drive, Queensbay Mall, Gurney Plaza and i bet KL has alot of it too.Any other parts of the world have a more interesting Dr.Fish? Do Share.
